How to Install pearOS Monterey on PC - Use Entire Disk macOS Linux Distro



You have definitely heard about the macOS Monterey, and it is the new operating system that is replacing the macOS Big Sur on apple computers. However, do you know that there is an operating system that is similar to the macOS but it is a Linux distro, and the theme and the look are basically from the macOS? If you don’t know, well, now you know. Because pearOS is that Linux distro that has the macOS features (Kinda). And in this post, I will guide you How to Install PearOS on your PC.

You might know about the Mac operating system that starts from macOS X which is the oldest version and the newest and latest version of Mac is macOS Monterey. The most loved operating system in the world is macOS. macOS Monterey is the recently released operating system that was announced on 22nd June 2021.

It is a new Linux Distro which is built under ubuntu but it has the look of the macOS. At the moment I can see PearOS Catalina, PearOS ThiccSur, and finally PearOS Monterey on their official website. For this article, I’m going to install the PearOS Monterey on my computer.

PearOS Monterey is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu Linux 20.04 LTS and K.D.E. Plasma 5. twelve, packed with a number of free and open-source apps that attempt to replicate the appearance and feel of macOS. However,in this guide, you’ll learn how to install pearOS Monterey on computer as a main operating system

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR PEAROS

Internet Connection Required
Free USB Port:
 3.0 for fast speed (USB 2.0 works too)
Free disk space:
 15GB (20GB Recommended) (SSD for better performance)
At least dual-core CPU
 (Intel Core 2, Intel Core i3)
At least 3GB RAM
 (Recommended 4GB)
3D Hardware Acceleration
 (for smooth, blur, and effects)

DOWNLOAD PEAROS MONTERY AND ETCHER TOOL

 can Download pearOS Monterey from Google Drive. Click Here to visit their Official Site.

To install pearOS Monterey, you need to write your downloaded ISO to a USB stick to create the installation media. This is not the same as copying the ISO, and requires some bespoke software.

For this tutorial, we’ll use balenaEtcher, as it runs on Linux, Windows and Mac OS. Choose the version that corresponds to your current operating system, download and install the tool.


CREATE A BOOTABLE USB STICK

Step 1:
 Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.

Step 2: Double-click on the balenaEtcher download file to run the app. Press Flash from file to select the downloaded pearOS Monterey ISO file on your computer.



Step 3: Press Select target and choose the correct USB flash drive from the list.


Step 4: Press Flash! to begin writing pearOS Monterey to the USB flash drive.


After a few minutes, the USB flash drive will be ready for booting into pearOS Monterey.

INSTALL PEAROS MONTEREY FROM THE BOOTABLE USB

Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.

Step 2: While the system would restart and initialize start pressing F9 (or Del or F10 or F12 or Esc) to display Boot Menu. The key could be different on different make and model, try other keys as per Make and Model of your machine.

Step 3: From the Boot Menu, select Flash Drive as Boot Device and Hit Enter. It may be at different serial number in different systems. Wait for the system to Boot from the Flash Drive.


Step 4: After you choose the bootable USB Flash Drive from the Boot Menu, you will see a splash screen checking the disk for defects.


Step 5: Before begin installation make sure you are connected to internet by wifi or Ethernet cable.


Step 6: Double click on the Install PearOS Monterey to launch the installer for the PearOS Monetary.


Step 7: Choose a Language and click Next.


Step 8: Select your location and move on, then click Next.


Step 9: Choose a Keyboard and click Next.


Step 10: Installation type. Select the appropriate one. It is recommended to use Erase disk and install Pear for New Users. Please note this will erase data.


Step 11: Enter your name and password, then click Install.


Step 12: Now, wait until all the files PearOS Monterey getting installed…


Step 13: Once the installation is done, restart the operating and make sure that the USB Flash Drive is removed.


Step 14: You can now login with password as configured above.


Step 15: Congratulations !! You have successfully installed pearOS Monterey, powerful Ubuntu with the most beautiful desktop environment.

UPDATE AND UPGRADE PEAROS MONTERY OPERATING SYSTEM

The first thing you need to do after installing pearOS Monterey is updating your system. Even though you just installed it, the ISO you used might have been old. As such, there should be some pending updates for the installed software and packages.

Step 1: Now launch the terminal from the Search bar.


Step 2: let’s try and update the system using:

sudo apt-get update

Followed by your password.


Step 3: Now try this:

sudo apt-get upgrade
