We strongly advise backing up any valuable or sensitive data before installing any operating system onto a computer that has one or more existing operating systems. There is always the risk that the install process could potentially interfere with these other operating systems.

DOWNLOAD PEPPERMINT LINUX AND ETCHER TOOL
You need an ISO image of Peppermint OS Linux. You can Download it from the Official Peppermint OS Linux download page. You also need a 8GB USB drive which will be used as a bootable installation medium.
To install Peppermint OS Linux, you need to write your downloaded ISO to a USB stick to create the installation media. This is not the same as copying the ISO, and requires some bespoke software.
For this tutorial, we’ll use balenaEtcher, as it runs on Linux, Windows and Mac OS. Choose the version that corresponds to your current operating system, download and install the tool.
CREATE A BOOTABLE USB STICK
Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.
Step 2: Double-click on the balenaEtcher download file to run the app. Press Flash from file to select the downloaded Peppermint OS ISO file on your computer.
Step 3: Press Select target and choose the correct USB flash drive from the list.
Step 4: Press Flash! to begin writing Peppermint OS Linux to the USB flash drive.

Step 2: While the system would restart and initialize start pressing F9 (or Del or F10 or F12 or Esc) to display Boot Menu. The key could be different on different make and model, try other keys as per Make and Model of your machine.
Step 3: From the Boot Menu, select Flash Drive as Boot Device and Hit Enter. It may be at different serial number in different systems. Wait for the system to Boot from the Flash Drive.
Step 2: While the system would restart and initialize start pressing F9 (or Del or F10 or F12 or Esc) to display Boot Menu. The key could be different on different make and model, try other keys as per Make and Model of your machine.
Step 3: From the Boot Menu, select Flash Drive as Boot Device and Hit Enter. It may be at different serial number in different systems. Wait for the system to Boot from the Flash Drive.
Step 4: On this boot screen, there are several different options. Look for PeppermintOS (amd64), Then use the Down Arrow key and press Enter to confirm the selection.
Step 5: The Peppermint installer can easily be launched by double clicking the Install Peppermint icon on the desktop.
Step 8: The installer will attempt to choose the appropriate keyboard layout. However, you can change that if needed.
Step 9: Here, you must choose how Peppermint OS will install. For best results, click the Erase disk button. If Peppermint detects Windows, choose the install alongside option instead.
Step 10: Enter your username, host name and password. Please ensure you do not use a poor quality password.
Step 11: Here you are presented with all chooses to this point. It tallies with what chosen and click Install.
Step 13: When the installer finishes, Peppermint should now be successfully installed on your computer. Then click on Done.
Step 14: Remember to remove your USB install media.
Step 15: In the Grub window select first option and hit enter.
Step 16: Log in to your new Peppermint Linux system.

Let’s try and update the system using:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get update
Followed by your password.
Pay attention to the progress of the Terminal and enter Y when needed.
In some cases, you may need to reboot your Peppermint OS system for the installed updates to work properly.
