LXLE is a super-lightweight, Lubuntu-based Linux distribution that should breath life in to most old machines. However, the big difference that LXLE offers over many other lightweight operating systems is that it has a focus on eye candy.
LXLE is an open source operating system with LXDE desktop environment based on Linux distributions. The lightweight desktop OS has advance featured and unique characteristics. It is developed with useful modifications and tweaks.
INSTALLING LXLE ON YOUR COMPUTER
Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.
Step 2: While the system would restart and initialize start pressing F9 (or Del or F10 or F12 or Esc) to display Boot Menu. The key could be different on different make and model, try other keys as per Make and Model of your machine.
Step 3: From the Boot Menu, select Flash Drive as Boot Device and Hit Enter. It may be at different serial number in different systems. Wait for the system to Boot from the Flash Drive.
Step 4: Select live option through arrow keys and press enter to boot live mode. Now live mode desktop will be open.
Step 6: You will see the Welcome screen. Select your language and Click the Continue button to move to the next page.
Step 7: After clicking off the Welcome screen, you’ll be asked to select a keyboard layout. Using the GUI, choose the keyboard layout that works for you. Select the Continue button to move to the next page.
Step 8: Select the Download updates while installing LXLE button, then click on the Install third-party software box as well. When both boxes are selected, click on the Continue button.
Step 9: You must now choose how to install LXLE on your computer. Select the Erase disk and install LXLE option for best results. Or, select another option if you are an expert. Click on the Install Now button to start the installation process.
Step 11: After choosing an installation option, select a timezone. You can choose a timezone by choosing a location on the geographic map then click Continue.
Step 12: You’ll see the Who are you? Enter your username, password, and computer name. After entering this information, select the Log in automatically button or the Require my password to log in button. Choose Continue when done.
Step 14: When the process is complete, you will see a notification appear on your screen. This notification will let you know that LXLE is finished, and you need to reboot.
Step 16: After restart user login page will appear on the screen. Enter the user password and then click log in option.

DOWNLOAD LXLE LINUX AND ETCHER TOOL
You need an ISO image of LXLE Linux. You can Download it from the Official LXLE OS Linux download page. You also need a 8GB USB Flash drive which will be used as a bootable installation medium.
To install LXLE Linux, you need to write your downloaded ISO to a USB stick to create the installation media. This is not the same as copying the ISO, and requires some bespoke software.
For this tutorial, we’ll use balenaEtcher, as it runs on Linux, Windows and Mac OS. Choose the version that corresponds to your current operating system, download and install the tool.
CREATE A BOOTABLE USB STICK
Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.
Step 2: Double-click on the balenaEtcher download file to run the app. Press Flash from file to select the downloaded LXLE ISO file on your computer.
Step 3: Press Select target and choose the correct USB flash drive from the list.
Step 4: Press Flash! to begin writing LXLE Linux to the USB flash drive.

WHAT TO DO AFTER INSTALLING LXLE LINUX
Update LXLE Linux using command line in the Terminal
All you have to do is to fire up the Terminal emulator app or another terminal emulator of your choice.

Let’s try and update the system using:
sudo apt-get update
Followed by your password.
sudo apt-get update
Followed by your password.
Pay attention to the progress of the Terminal and enter Y when needed.
In some cases, you may need to reboot your LXLE system for the installed updates to work properly.
