Welcome to our today’s guide where we will focus on latest installation of GeckoLinux distribution on computer. GeckoLinux operating system revolved from openSUSE distribution with its center of attention being smooth, reliable and accessible on desktops.
The main structure includes and is immediately ready to use cpatented multimedia files and there are additional proprietary apps available through the repositories, including the Google and Skype repositories.
The TLP package is used to optimize energy consumption, In addition, installing packages from the Packman repositories is a priority, as some openSUSE packages have limitations due to proprietary technologies.
The GeckoLinux team has added their own unique configurations and the pre-installed applications that are available in the other editions to offer users the best possible Budgie and Pantheon experience, Gecko style.
DOWNLOAD GECKOLINUX IMAGE AND ETCHER TOOL

In my case, I’ll download GeckoLinux Rolling-OBS Pantheon, by making click on Download.
To install GeckoLinux Rolling Pantheon, you need to write your downloaded ISO to a USB stick to create the installation media. This is not the same as copying the ISO, and requires some bespoke software.
For this tutorial, we’ll use balenaEtcher, as it runs on Linux, Windows and Mac OS. Choose the version that corresponds to your current operating system, download and install the tool.
CREATE A BOOTABLE USB STICK
Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.
Step 2: Double-click on the balenaEtcher download file to run the app. Press Flash from file to select the downloaded GeckoLinux Rolling Pantheon ISO file on your computer.
Step 3: Press Select target and choose the correct USB flash drive from the list.
BEGIN GECKOLINUX INSTALLATION PROCESS
Step 3: We choose the first option GeckoLinux_ROLLING-OBS_Pantheon and press Enter.
Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.
Step 2: Restart System to access Boot Menu, This is the step where the system will get the boot from USB drive, In some case system automatically gets the boot from USB if you have given preference to Boot from USB else you need to do manually, When the system gets to boot press the ESC or F2 or F9 or F12 to access the boot menu options button may different as per the manufacturer.
Step 4: GeckoLinux OS loading, be patient.
Step 5: After loading the OS, we are prompted with installation page. Here double-click on calamares to Install System.
Step 6: Next, we select our preferred language. Click Next after selecting the language.
Step 7: Select your Region and Zone accordingly and click Next.
Step 8: Select your preferred keyboard and click Next.
Step 9: You can either do partition manually or select the first option Erase Disk for the system to be installed in current partition then click Next. Remember all data in your disk will be removed.
Step 10: To create a user, fill in the required info for the user and click Next.
Step 11: Before you begin installation, you can check if the information provided above are correct and click Install to start installation.
Step 12: Confirm with Install Now.
Step 14: GeckoLinux installed successfully, check the restart button and now click Done to restart the system.
Step 15: We can log in to our GeckoLinux system by providing correct username and password.

UPDATE AND UPGRADE GECKOLINUX ROLLING PANTHEON
After installing any Linux system, it’s always a good idea to run an update to make sure that you’re rocking with all the latest stable packages. It’s just a matter of running a couple of lines of commands in the terminal and there’s very few chance of breaking down things. Let’s get started!
Fire up the terminal and run the following command.
sudo zypper ref

To continue press Y and Enter.
