Install AcademiX GNU Linux on PC - Full Disk Installation Step by Step


In the world of Linux There are many distributions that exist of which each one is focused on a special area and some others are simple forks of some in which they simply change the desktop environment or add applications.

As for the distributions aimed at the educational field, there are few that we can find, so this time we will talk about one of these.

AcademiX GNU/Linux is a Debian-based Linux distribution developed specifically for education. The distribution was built on the Debian Linux (Stretch / Buster) distribution and contains free software for education. The programs included in the distribution are for all levels of education from primary to upper and / or university levels.

Its desktop environment allows you to work intuitively and graphically using a modern desktop with low resource consumption., so it can work on computers with less powerful hardware or older computers.

DOWNLOAD ACADEMIX LINUX AND ETCHER TOOL

You need an ISO image of AcademiX Linux. You can Download it from the Official AcademiX Linux download page. You also need a 8GB USB Flash drive which will be used as a bootable installation medium.

To install AcademiX Linux, you need to write your downloaded ISO to a USB stick to create the installation media. This is not the same as copying the ISO, and requires some bespoke software.

For this tutorial, we’ll use balenaEtcher, as it runs on Linux, Windows and Mac OS. Choose the version that corresponds to your current operating system, download and install the tool.



CREATE A BOOTABLE USB STICK

Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.

Step 2: Double-click on the balenaEtcher download file to run the app. Press Flash from file to select the downloaded AcademiX ISO file on your computer.


Step 3: Press Select target and choose the correct USB flash drive from the list.


Step 4: Press Flash! to begin writing AcademiX Linux to the USB flash drive.


After a few minutes, the USB flash drive will be ready for booting into AcademiX Linux.

INSTALL ACADEMIX LINUX STEP BY STEP

Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.

Step 2: While the system would restart and initialize start pressing F9 (or Del or F10 or F12 or Esc) to display Boot Menu. The key could be different on different make and model, try other keys as per Make and Model of your machine.

Step 3: From the Boot Menu, select Flash Drive as Boot Device and Hit Enter. It may be at different serial number in different systems. Wait for the system to Boot from the Flash Drive.


Step 4: You will see a new screen when your computer boots up called GNU GRUB, a boot loader that handles installations for Linux. select first option Graphical AcademiX Installer.


Step 5: Select a language 
and click Continue.


Step 6: Select your location and click Continue.


Step 7: Set the keyboard layout 
and click Continue.


Step 8: Configure network 
and click Continue.


Step 9: Set up password 
and click Continue.


Step 10: Set up username for your account 
and click Continue.


Step 11: Choose a password for the new user 
and click Continue.


Step 12: Configure the clock 
and click Continue.


Step 13: Select Guided - Use Entire Disk in case you want to replace the existing OS otherwise select Something else and click Continue.


Step 14: Select the drive for installation of OS to be completed.


Step 15: Select All files in one partition, it's recommended for new users.


Step 16: Choose finish partitioning and write change to disk.


Step 17: Confirm with select Yes and click Continue.


Step 18: Install the system.


Step 19: Use a network Mirror 
and click Continue.


Step 20: Choose debian archive mirror country that is close to you and click Continue.


Step 21: Choose the default one deb.debian.org and click Continue.


Step 22: Just hit Continue.


Step 23: Select Yes to install the Grub boot loader to the master boot record.


Step 24: Install the GRUB boot loader on your hard disk.


Step 25: After the installation is complete you will see a prompt to restart the computer and remember to remove the USB Flash Drive.


Step 26: Select first option.


Step 27: Login screen.


AcademiX Linux Now is ready.


WHAT TO DO AFTER INSTALLING ACADEMIX LINUX

Update AcademiX Linux using command line in the Terminal

All you have to do is to fire up the Konsole emulator app or another terminal emulator of your choice.

Let’s try and update the system using:

apt-get update


Now try this:

apt-get upgrade


Pay attention to the progress of the Terminal and enter  Y  when needed.


In some cases, you may need to reboot your Ubuntu system for the installed updates to work properly.
