How to Install Pearl Mate 11 - A Free Mac OS X Styled Alternative for Linux


Pearl Linux OS is a distribution based on Ubuntu. Pearl uses components of the LXDE and Xfce desktop environments to create a desktop experience which looks similar to Apple's OS X desktop environment. The project calls this hybrid desktop PearlDE. Pearl Linux OS is available in several editions, including GNOME, MATE and PearlDE.

Pearl Linux OS is a complete Linux version specifically designed for Newbies loaded with many advanced features. This free download is a standalone ISO image installer of Pearl OS with both 32bit and 64bit architecture.

A user-friendly interface is provided by this release to make OS X users comfortable. Advanced security and performance features are also provided by this release to make the distribution reliable. Chromium Browser and Seamonkey browser provides an ultimate browsing experience. Many networking facilities are there like Etherape, Transmission, Filezilla, and Pidgin are also included in this package.

DOWNLOAD PEARLMATE 11 LINUX AND ETCHER TOOL

You need an ISO image of PearlMate 11 Linux. You can Download it from the Official PearlMate 11 Linux download page. You also need a 8GB USB drive which will be used as a bootable installation medium.


To install PearlMate 11 Linux, you need to write your downloaded ISO to a USB stick to create the installation media. This is not the same as copying the ISO, and requires some bespoke software.

For this tutorial, we’ll use balenaEtcher, as it runs on Linux, Windows and Mac OS. Choose the version that corresponds to your current operating system, download and install the tool.



CREATE A BOOTABLE USB STICK

Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.

Step 2: Double-click on the balenaEtcher download file to run the app. Press Flash from file to select the downloaded PearlMate 11 ISO file on your computer.


Step 3: Press Select target and choose the correct USB flash drive from the list.


Step 4: Press Flash! to begin writing PearlMate 11 Linux to the USB flash drive.


After a few minutes, the USB flash drive will be ready for booting into PearlMate 11 Linux.

HOW TO INSTALL PEARLMATE 11 LINUX

Step 1: Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.

Step 2: While the system would restart and initialize start pressing F9 (or Del or F10 or F12 or Esc) to display Boot Menu. The key could be different on different make and model, try other keys as per Make and Model of your machine.

Step 3: From the Boot Menu, select Flash Drive as Boot Device and Hit Enter. It may be at different serial number in different systems. Wait for the system to Boot from the Flash Drive.


Step 4: When you boot the computer from the USB stick, Select live - boot the live system and press Enter.


Step 5: Linux PearlMate 11 starts a live session. It shows you a desktop, double-click on Install PearlMate 11.


Step 6: Select your language


Step 7: Select your keyboard layout.


Step 8: If you are connected to the Internet, tick the box to download updates while installing PearlMATE and Install third-party software for graphics and WI-FI...


Step 9: Choose an installation type. if you want to run Pearl Mate 11 on this computer and all data can be lost on the hard drive, choose Erase disk and install PearlMate.


Step 10: Confirm by clicking Continue.


Step 11: Select your timezone.


Step 12: Enter your user details.


Step 13: Enjoy the slideshow while Pearl Mate 11 is installed on your computer.


Step 14: When the installation is finished, click Restart Now.


Step 15: The computer will then start to shut down and ask you to remove the USB disk and press enter.


Step 16: Your computer should show you a login Screen.


Start your newly PearlMate 11 installed Linux operating system.


WHAT TO DO AFTER INSTALLING PEARLMATE 11 LINUX

Update PearlMate 11 Linux using command line in the Terminal

All you have to do is to fire up the Terminal emulator app or another terminal emulator of your choice.

Let’s try and update the system using:

sudo apt-get update

Followed by your password.


Now try this:

sudo apt-get upgrade


Pay attention to the progress of the Terminal and enter  Y  when needed.


In some cases, you may need to reboot your PearlMate 11 system for the installed updates to work properly.
